Excursion. Here is an original photo that I took in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, around three o'clock on 17 October 1965. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5898 and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #5898 was constructed in March of 1951. They're about to enter the western portal of the New Portage Tunnel with the "Horseshoe Curve Excursion" ~ sponsored by the Lancaster Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society ~ that's heading back down the Eastern Slope of the Allegheny Mountains to make a stop at the Horseshoe Curve for excursion passengers to visit PRR K-4S "Pacific" #1361, and then return to Lancaster.
